On The Road Again
I really thought that this time would be different. It was a nice delusion while it lasted.
I’m talking about making travel arrangements, which for me always seems to end up in a mad-cap race against time to locate passports, or to convince the travel agency to courier the tickets straight to check-in, since I have forgot to pick them up as I should have, or to egg on some poor taxi-driver as we rush between the airport I thought I was departing from and the one from which I am actually doing that.
But this time! This time, I had somehow convinced myself, I would be the sort of traveller who keeps her passport in a posh leather-case and sashays around with a very small amount of matching luggage. I imagined this traveller (me) to smile graciously at the staff at baggage control and then settle down to enjoy a pre-ordered martini in first class.
Well.
It’s now Wednesday, and I just realised that I’m going to Brussels on Friday but have not yet bought my Eurostar ticket. I won’t have time to do it tomorrow Thursday, which leaves us – once again – the day of departure.
So if any of you good people are commuting on the Jubilee Line to Waterloo on Friday, and spot a small, belligerent-looking creature dragging around an overnight bag on its one functioning wheel, while swearing at old ladies and women with buggies – well, what are you waiting for?
Just help me up the stairs, will ya?

Will do.. but I change at London Bridge so actually I can't. I'll give you my seat if I see you.
You know you can buy them online now and takes, like, 2 minutes. You could have bought one in the time it took you to write this post.
Are you sure you don't actually like running around in a panic at the last moment?
If you actually did everything on time and were completely organised do you not think you would miss, even just a tiny bit, the thrill of the adrenaline rush of harassment?
Saw your post on my Blog...thanks for visiting hope to see you again.
If you've never been to the Design then go...if you have and aren't sure whether you want to go have a look at5 their website.
I went and enjoyed the Designer of The Year Exhibition but knew nothing about it because it was my friend's choice.
Please take lots of arty pictures of Art Nouveau buildings if you have time in Brussels.
And have a safe trip and a fun time!
I will be thinking of you as I pass by from Westminster to London Bridge... so odd to think there are actually quite a few of us out there. I usually feel isolated as a blogger but perhaps I am passing them by everyday. I feel like wearing a t-shirt saying "are YOU one?"
Hej!
If I help you, can I fit in your suitcase later?
I'd love to be that girl with the matching luggage and leather passport holder too...ahh..one day!! Have a great trip! Helen
haha! that thing about london tube! do you remember last august when you were helping me with my huuuge suitcase up&down those scalators? i know it's much better to organise your trip in a week's-time, but hey...that would not be you! and you always get the tickets! have a nice stay in Moules'& eternal rain land! (say hi Shasha from me!!); )
Hi Swedish Girl/ peeps
Nice blog
Just wondering if you can advise on good websites/ places to link-up with Swedes in London.
I only speak English so I guess my options are a little bit more limited.
Look forward to hearing from you.
¡hola guapa! espero que estés bien y que muy prontito nos escribas algo chulo en tu blog! echo de menos tus artículos! muchos besos! : )
Shit! It's saturday morning. missed my chance.
not updated lately honey!?
x
Oh enjoy!
I have an ambition to actually get matching luggage at some point, and to be able to travel light and gracefully but hey, this sort of thing comes with being an adult.
I think.
Did you take the train to Paris by mistake then nod off and sleep walk on to a flight to South America but the flight crashed in the jungle and you were the only survivor, saved by a previously unheard of tribe of intelligent yet slightly grumpy parrots who started to worshiping you as their God and saviour hence haven't been able to blog because the piranhas keep biting through the cables you trained the parrots to ineffectively fashion from vines and nut husks?
Just curious.
hey you! missing your articles LOTS! i know you are busy. we need isabelinian touchs in our daily routines! selfishly speaking, i know!! mil besos :O)
God, I LOVE those parrots.
I miss your blogs! When are you coming back from your big trip?
hi
I can't find your email to reply you about if Total has some capacity at the LNG terminal in Bilbao.... Mind you to provide me your email? By the way, do you have some interests in Norwegian gas contracted by Total?
Kind regards from Spain,
J.
Buenas tardes Isabel,
solo decirte desde España con amor que tengo muchas ganas de conocerte, y que hablas el español genial!!!.
Besos a tope.
Noe.
I love this blog. You have me laughing and drooling into my tea in my office. :)
My thought on travel: why do sites always require you to choose a destination? Seriously - can't they have an "I just want out, I don't care where, give me options" kind of button. Sometimes, a girl just needs out of Dodge and the exact destination isn't so important as the dates and price.
I'm looking for such an option this upcoming long weekend...sigh.
Dang. I guess you've stopped doing this. Either that or your trip was too bad to write about.
I hope not.
Also, I hope you aren't dead!
Har något alldeles fruktansvärt hänt dig på din resa eller har Den Stora Bloggdöden drabbat dig?
Cool Pics!
Hey you should check out www.mytripz.com
You'd probably love it. Its great for travel.
Hope it helps
come back to your blog :8)
